Sponsored Content

This just in: Sponsored spokesperson recommends purchases from their sponsor!

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s going on here. When stores are selling pre-made Ugly Christmas Sweaters and every Facebuck winemom you know is gushing about their plans for a “novel” ugly Christmas sweater party… the jig is up.

This influencer is gushing about how “maximalist” Christmas décor is back. So go buy more decorations and show everyone how unique and like everyone else you are!

Personally, I’m still sticking to my single string of LEDs in the window. I leave them up all year, just gotta plug them in during the proper season.

By the way, you can buy my recommended single string of LED lights by clicking on my sponsored Amazone link. Also check out this five star Milwaukee impact driver set, perfect for hanging up a single string of LED lights!

The Longest Day

Anyone remember that movie The Longest Day? It’s a WW2 movie from the ‘60s. Had John Wayne in it.

I liked how it had all these small stories from different perspectives, wrapped around the main plot. I think that made it feel more authentic. Little touches that you’d only include if you were actually there kind of thing.

Like the guy with the backwards shoes… I think ‘belltower guy’ was more of an urban legend though.

Today I learned…

In Quebec if you’re the owner of a stolen piece of art that you purchased (without knowing that it was stolen), you get to keep it or negotiate a settlement for its return.

How awesome is that? A proverbial pirate island paradise for shady art dealers, art buyers, and art thieves.

Hail to the King

Speaking of Kings, why did chivalric orders go out of style anyway? I guess at some point they turned into a lame pay-for-membership cigar club without all the armor and fighting…?

At least in fiction and video games they are still pretty awesome.

AI is here to take your job

That’s right! You thought your job was safe because you were an “artist”?

Nope! That Fine Arts degree was just replaced by Artificial Intelligence. You thought it was bad when animals got copyrights for photographs they took? These things aren’t even alive!

On the other hand, our new robot overlords will still need janitors to sweep up their robot droppings and someone to oil their joints, right?

There will still be a place for a serf class…

Trivia at $2.00 per question?

Question Miners

Query: “$2 per Question? That’s Insanity!”

Response: Yes, yes it is.

Virtue Signal Statement: “I don’t mind paying $2 a question, because it supports a current global cause and I can virtue signal my piety and grandeur by paying that price and announcing loudly and humbly to my followers on FaceFriend and Twotter that I don’t mind paying.”

Vague Explanation: Question prices are set at a single global value. No matter how much questions cost when pumped locally, the price is not based on that cost. Question producers pump raw questions from the ground and sell them to trivia refineries at “competitive” prices, so if prices are up globally, they will be up locally as well. The cost is passed down to the suckers consumers.

Query: “But Oldman, the question producers and the trivia refineries are all owned by the same trivia barons. What happens then?”

Explanation: Well in that case, you have trivia barons insanely massive profits direct from your pockets! I remember the good old days when I worked at a Trivia station during a summer. Questions were $0.45 on an expensive day. I also remember when all the trivia stations had to add a “$1” to the front of their signs.

Kriss Kross

Two Utes

About 31 years ago, Kriss Kross “Jump” was #1 on the singles charts. Cool right? Inside-out is wiggity, wiggity, wiggity wack. Why not head on over to YouTubb or other music service and re-listen to that now classic tune? Other popular songs from that time include “Under the Bridge”, “Baby got back”, and “Achy Breaky Heart”.

What a great time it was for music! What do we have today? As of last week, Harry Styles had 7 songs in the top 20. Sad. Where’s the variety? Am I that out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong.

Vinyl Edition

So I had the opportunity to listen to some old-school vinyl records recently. I might sound like an old man here, but its been a long time since I just sat down and listened to music rather than have music playing while something else is going on.

It was a great experience, helped in a large part by a designated person to cue the records. Super helpful when you’re listening to ‘45s…

Zellers is Back?

Hey, remember Zellers? They are going to be back, in virtual form! (not Pog form)

[Hudson’s Bay Co] says they will “offer a digital-first shopping journey that taps into the nostalgia of the brand.”

Wow. A shopping journey? Brand nostalgia?

What MBA Big Brain came up with that crap? What exactly is nostalgic about the Zellers brand? Although I do remember the Z diner though. We didn’t go often, but it was decent.

As a digital store, at least you wont get accosted by old ladies in the store when you happen to wear a generic “I totally work here” outfits.

Twitter Ping Pong

Does anyone care about this? I’m not really a twitter guy, I never got the point of it. I think all its done is highlight the stupidity of a small number of humans in a very public way.

I suppose the only time I paid attention to tweets was during our last major storm, and I did this via the local Hydro Twitter web site.

If there was an 800 number where a robot voice would read the posts, I could have called that.

I don’t have a radio that works on battery, and even if I did I’d have to wait around listening to radio network high rotation garbage music until I get an update that is mostly pointless.

Anyway, Elon Musk wants to buy Twitter again. I guess its better to pay for it now than go to court to see if he will be forced to pay for it?
